Once Upon a Time in the West, a reference to the title of the spaghetti Western movie, is the title of the group of works in this show. Classic landscapes ensconced in grounds of mottled and scrubbed paint lend a hint of antiquity. The apparent debridement of overlaying painterly images reveal some archeological finds that hearken back to a time of greater purity and simplicity. A delicious contrast is delivered by the abstract quality of the framing, slabs of paint against the clear articulate renderings of the central image.
